Quarried Responsibly

Natural stone is already one of the lowest-impact building materials there is. At Golden Rock Products we work to keep it that way, from the power that runs our quarry to the oil and fuel in our heavy equipment.

Solar-Powered Quarry

Our quarry site runs on solar electricity. A 3,000-watt (3 kW) solar array on the roof of our slate-clad power house charges a battery bank housed inside, and powers our office, including its computers and internet, along with our pumps and the site lighting.

When the sun runs short, our backup generator runs on natural gas instead of diesel, which burns cleaner.

Cleaner Equipment

One Eye Industries ADD-Vantage 9000 magnetic engine oil filter with filter element and magnet rod

Our big equipment is fitted with ADD-Vantage 9000 magnetic engine oil filters from One Eye Industries. Powerful magnets pull out metal wear particles down to 1 micron and below, far finer than a standard paper filter can catch. Cleaner oil means fewer oil changes, fewer spent filters and less waste oil to dispose of, and engines that last longer.

What One Eye reports from the field:

  • A gold mine saved $1.5 million across 36 CAT haul truck engines by stretching oil change and rebuild intervals.
  • A Kenworth highway truck has run with One Eye engine protection for 17 years.

Stone That Lasts

Natural stone is quarried and shaped, not manufactured. There is no kiln firing and no cement, and a slate wall or patio lasts for generations. When a project ends, the stone can be reclaimed and used again.
